Job Summary:
The Clinical Intern is responsible for providing mental health assessments during the initial intake appointment of their assigned client as well as collaborating with their client to identify needs, goals, objectives and counseling interventions through the individual treatment planning process. The clinical intern will use motivational interviewing and client based approaches to provide interventions that will assist their clients to complete their goals while continually monitoring and documenting client progress and outcomes. The clinical intern will be evaluating for risk assessment and the need for case presentation, staffing, and emergency intervention and will be meeting with their assigned clinical supervisor at least an hour per week.
The Clinical Intern shall utilize clinically approved modalities, including but not limited to the use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused, Mindfulness based, Person-centered and Trauma Focused therapies among others in accordance with their training and certifications.
Job Responsibilities:
The Clinical Intern will provide psycho education to clients while keeping the fundamental information from the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of mental disorders DSM-5 as the guide.
The Clinical Intern will provide counseling services based on the intern’s knowledge, trainings, certifications, psychological and human development theories, evidenced-based research and on-going self-improvement and growth through keeping updated on clinical interventions and effectiveness paired with the clients’ mental health assessments, needs, goals, strengths, and techniques to adults, children, families, and groups
Completion of notes and other required documentation by 10:00 pm same day service was rendered. Must comply with documentation protocol necessary for best practice
Participates in meetings with or without the client and with or without the client’s family participating; when appropriate
The Clinical Intern will facilitate growth, development and adaptation by assisting the client to make connections between past and current interpersonal relationship issues as well as how trauma, beliefs, emotions and behaviors link to current mental and emotional disorders
Provides referrals, outreach and follow-up of services
Ensures the development and implementation of transition from initial intake with a client to completion of treatment, discharge and aftercare plans prior to discontinuation of behavioral health services
Performs all case management functions associated with caseload including completing the assessment and services planning processes; including identifying the need for further or specialty evaluations
Maintains the client's comprehensive clinical record, including documentation of activities performed as part of the service delivery process
Provides continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment through the ongoing assessment of the client and input from the client and relevant others resulting in modification to the service plan, as necessary
Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree related to behavior health field (required)
In the process of obtaining Master’s Degree related to behavioral health field
Clinical Intern I = Bachelor's Degree, 0-6 months experience in the behavioral health field and/or graduate program classes incomplete.
Clinical Intern II = Bachelor's Degree, 6 months to 1 year experience in the behavioral health field and all classes of graduate program completed.
Clinical Intern III = Bachelor's Degree, 1 or more years experience in the behavioral health field and/or all classes of graduate program completed.

Certifications/Licenses:
CPR & First Aid (required)
Valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card (required)
Proof of Professional Liability Ins. (required)
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Computer skills including working knowledge of Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar.
Experience with Apple products is a plus.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to follow instructions, as well as following through
Humility to accept criticism as well as praise
The willingness to accept guidance on clinical documentation, and all other areas of Clinical experience and supervision
Able to acknowledge mistakes, stuck points, and deficiencies and putting the effort in to learn from them, as well as being honest with oneself in the learning and supervision process
